This white-throated sparrow (Zonotrichia albicollis) and tufted titmouse (Parus bicolor) are relatively common (abundant) birds. Too often, people find what is common to their own back yards as mundane. Much of this can be attributed to the exotic allure of distant lands and charasmatic species we rarely get to see. The wildlife close by can afford many encounters to study behavior and give insight into a world where we are only visitors.
I took these pictures next to a scrubby hedge row near Accotink Bay in Fairfax County, VA.
