You never know what you might find...
This Cedar Waxwing (Bombycilla cedrorum) was discovered one day during an outing near Briery Creek in Prince Edward County, Virginia. Animals contend with age, disease, weather, injury, predation and other forms of mortality. An isolated, individual case like this one is not usually cause for alarm for an ongoing or pending large-scale mortality event. It did provide an opportunity to examine a beautiful bird up close.
